Leading Ukrainian cyclist and alumna of Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture Yuliia Biriukova has claimed another gold medal at the Ukrainian Road Cycling Championships.
Following her convincing victory in the individual time trial, Yuliia added a second national title by winning the women’s individual road race.
The race proved to be highly competitive. After one of the decisive attacks, a leading breakaway group was formed, consisting of Yuliia Biriukova, Olha Kulynych, Maryna Altukhova, and Milana Ushakova. The battle for the medals unfolded among these four riders, with the final podium featuring Yuliia Biriukova in first place, followed by Olha Kulynych and Maryna Altukhova.
One of the most remarkable moments of the race came when Maryna Altukhova suffered a puncture. Rather than taking advantage of the situation, Yuliia chose to wait for her rival so they could continue competing under equal conditions. The national title was ultimately decided on the road, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, fair play, and mutual respect between the athletes.
