Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture Receives an RITA Grant to Implement Initiatives Supporting Mental and Physical Health

The Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture, together with WSG Bydgoszcz University (Republic of Poland) and a consortium of partners, has been selected as a winner of the international RITA «Changes in the Region» grant competition – «Polish-Ukrainian Regional Adaptive Centres – VOL. 3.». The project aims to develop a network of academic centres that will provide support in the fields of mental health, physical activity, and social integration for people from high-risk groups.

The project is co-financed by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation under the «RITA – Changes in the Region» programme (RITA2 – Partnerstwo do potęgi 2025), implemented by the Education for Democracy Foundation (Fundacja Edukacja dla Demokracji).

The consortium of partners also includes:

  • Zaporizhzhia National University
  • West Ukrainian National University (Ternopil)
  • Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities (Rivne)
  • National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine (Kyiv)
  • Kharkiv State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport

Since 2015, our University has been actively cooperating with the AZS WSG Association (Stowarzyszenie AZS WSG). Over the years, a number of joint initiatives have been successfully implemented, including RITA Programme projects such as:

  • «Self-diagnosis of Breast Cancer among Young Ukrainian Women» (Samo–diagnoza raku piersi u młodych Ukrainek),
  • «Ukrainian Occupational Therapy Centre through Adaptive Games» (Ukraińskie centrum terapii zajęciowej poprzez gry adaptacyjne),
  • «Ukrainian Centre of Adaptive Sport and Occupational Therapy for Persons with Disabilities – vol. 2.0» (Ukraińskie centrum terapii zajęciowej poprzez sport osób niepełnosprawnych vol. 2.0).

An important outcome of this previous cooperation was the establishment of the Polish-Ukrainian Adaptive Centre at the Ivan Boberskyi LSUPC, which serves as a platform for implementing innovative approaches to social integration through adaptive games.

For our University, this project is highly significant both institutionally and for the wider region and Ukraine as a whole. It offers effective and practical methods for addressing current challenges related to the mental and physical well-being of citizens.
