Oleh Karnafel, a student of Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture, won the bronze medal at the 21st European Rogaining Championship in the Junior category.
The 21st European Rogaining Championship and the 30th Czech Rogaining Championship were held in the mountain village of Orlické Záhoří, located in the Orlické Mountains in the north-eastern part of the Czech Republic.
Rogaining is one of the most popular and prestigious disciplines of orienteering sport in Europe. This year’s championship brought together 250 teams from 17 European countries, along with competitors from Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Winners were determined across 15 competition categories. Ukraine was represented by 32 teams from the country’s leading orienteering clubs and training centres.
In the Junior category, the Wildtrack team, consisting of Mykyta Slieptsov (Donetsk region) and Oleh Karnafel, a student of Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture, claimed the bronze medals. Completing the course in 22 hours, 30 minutes, and 15 seconds, the team scored 171 points, securing third place at the continental championship.
Oleh Karnafel is studying in the Extreme Sports and Active Recreation educational programme at the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture, successfully combining his academic studies with international sporting achievements.
The Junior title was won by a team from Latvia, while the silver medals went to the Ukrainian duo Nazar Prokhuta and Nazar Sliusenko from Sumy.
