Olha Belchenko, a student of the Department of Athletics at Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture, has set a new Ukrainian junior women’s pole vault record.

The athlete achieved this historic result on June 16 during an international athletics meeting in Jõhvi, Estonia. First, Olha cleared 4.37 m on her second attempt, surpassing the previous national junior record. She then improved her performance even further by clearing 4.40 m, also on her second attempt. The previous Ukrainian junior women’s record of 4.30 m had been held by Hanna Shelekh for fifteen years.
It is worth noting the athlete’s remarkable progress during the 2026 season. Prior to the competition in Estonia, Olha’s personal best stood at 4.20 m. At this event, she improved her personal record by an impressive 20 centimetres and established a new Ukrainian junior women’s record in the pole vault.
