University Graduate Helps Ukraine Qualify for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s European Championship

On June 16–17, Bucharest hosted the qualification tournament for the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s European Championship.

Nine national teams – Ukraine, Latvia, Austria, Romania, Lithuania, Greece, Great Britain, Sweden, and Denmark – competed for two places in the final stage of the continental championship.

Among the players selected for the Ukrainian women’s national team was Khrystyna Filevych, a graduate of Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture. She was joined by Miriam Uro-Nile, Anzhelika Liashko, and Veronika Kosmach in representing Ukraine.

The Ukrainian team delivered an impressive performance in Group A. On June 16, they opened the tournament with victories over Denmark (17–8) and Lithuania (16–11). The following day, Ukraine defeated Sweden 16–12 before overcoming the host nation, Romania, by a score of 21–12.

In the decisive qualification game for a place at the European Championship, Ukraine faced Austria, the runners-up of Group B. The match was closely contested, with the outcome remaining uncertain until the final seconds. The team coached by Vitalii Chernii secured a dramatic 16–15 victory. Khrystyna Filevych was Ukraine’s top scorer in the game, contributing 5 points.

Thanks to this successful campaign, the Ukrainian women’s 3×3 national team has qualified for the European Championship for the fourth consecutive time and for the ninth time overall.

The team’s best achievement at the continental level remains the bronze medals won at the 2018 European Championship.
