The Executive Committee of the Lviv Regional Branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has announced the results of its traditional monthly vote to determine the Best Athlete of the Lviv Region for June 2026.
The title was awarded to distinguished modern pentathlete Yurii Kovalchuk, a graduate of Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture.
In June, the 24-year-old athlete from Lviv won the bronze medal at the UIPM 2026 Modern Pentathlon World Cup held in Budapest, Hungary. In addition, Yurii set a new world record in the Laser Run event, further highlighting his outstanding international performance.
The title of Best Coaches of the Lviv Region for June 2026 was jointly awarded to Yurii’s coaching team: Oleh Fialkovych, Vitalii Tarnakin, Andrii Orlikovskyi, and Andrii Kovalchuk, Head of the Department of Shooting and Technical Sports at Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture.
