Seven students of LDUFK will compete at the XXXI World Winter Universiade-2023

Today, January 12, in the American city of Lake Placid, the flame of the XXX World Winter Universiade – Lake Placid 2023 FISU Winter World University Games will be lit. Seven representatives of Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture will also defend the sporting honor of the blue-yellow flag at the planetary student forum.

The FISU World University Games is the largest multi-sport event for student-athletes aged 17 to 25. The XXXI World University Winter Games in 2023 in Lake Placid, USA will gather 1,443 athletes who will represent more than 540 institutions of higher education from 46 countries of the world. In total, 86 sets will be played in 12 sports (mountain skiing, biathlon, ski racing, curling, freestyle and free skating, figure skating, hockey, ski dueling, short track, snowboarding, ski jumping, ice skating) medals Competitions will be held at venues located throughout upstate New York, including Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Wilmington, North Creek, Canton and Potsdam.

It should be noted that Lake Placid will host the World Winter Universiade for the second time. The first time this happened was in 1972. And Lake Placid, let’s recall, twice, in 1932 and 1980, was the capital of the Winter Olympic Games.

The largest team of participants will represent, as it should be, the hosts of the competition – there are 150 athletes in the application of the US national team. Numerous teams were also brought by Japan (139 people), Canada (121), South Korea (85)…
