On May 7-8, 2026, Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture hosted the XXX International Scientific Conference «Young Sports Science of Ukraine» dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the University.

The first day of the conference took place at the University’s main campus, while the second day was held at the educational and training complex of NSC SKIF.

The participants were welcomed by the Rector of the University, Yaroslav Svyshch. The opening ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Ukrainian government, including Andrii Vitrenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, and Vitalii Lavrov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization.

Among the distinguished guests were Leonz Eder, President of the International University Sports Federation; Oleh Paska; Roman Khimiak; Anton Nikulin; and Yurii Turyanskyi, Head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Branch in Lviv Region.

This year, the conference brought together more than 300 participants representing 28 higher education institutions from Ukraine and 22 international universities and research institutions. Scholars and practitioners from 17 countries across four continents joined the event, including representatives from Brazil, Georgia, Iraq, Italy, Egypt, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sudan, Türkiye, Ukraine, Montenegro, and Switzerland.

A total of 166 scientific abstracts were submitted to the conference proceedings. The Honorary Organizing Committee included more than 20 renowned scholars and experts in the fields of physical education and sport, rehabilitation, management, psychology, and medicine.

The conference programme featured 11 plenary and sectional sessions, some of which were held online to enable participation from international speakers and researchers.

The scientific discussions focused on contemporary issues in athlete training theory and methodology, Olympic, Paralympic and professional sport, physical education for various population groups, physical therapy, adaptive physical education, biomedical aspects of sport, as well as fitness, recreation, tourism, and sports management.

Special attention was devoted to thematic round tables. One of the key discussions, «Adaptive Sport: Shaping a New Paradigm,» was moderated by Professor Yuriy Briskin. Participants explored a broad range of topics, from the development of modern terminology in adaptive sport to the transformation of educational programmes and the implementation of innovative approaches to the reintegration of people with disabilities.

Particular emphasis was placed on the practical activities of the Polish-Ukrainian Adaptation Centre operating at the University. The Centre functions within the framework of the international project «Polish-Ukrainian Regional Adaptation Centres – Vol. 3,» co-funded by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation under the «RITA – Region in Transition» programme implemented by Fundacja Edukacja dla Demokracji. The initiative aims to develop a network of academic centres supporting mental health, physical activity, and social inclusion for vulnerable groups.

On May 8, participants also attended practical workshops at NSC SKIF featuring recreational golf, pétanque, and laser pistol shooting.

The XXX International Scientific Conference «Young Sports Science of Ukraine» once again confirmed its role as an important international platform for academic exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and the development of international cooperation in the fields of physical culture, sport, rehabilitation, and health sciences.
